There were several race teams representing Lafrance Performance at this year’s Florida Speedweeks, covering a couple different race tracks in two different divisions. Mario Clair led a strong contingent of Quebec area Big Block Modifieds with Lafrance Performance power under the hood of their cars at Volusia Speedway during the four nights of the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals, while 360 Sprint Car sophomore Etienne Girard represented the Summerstown, Ontario based Lafrance Performance at East Bay Speedway.
Mario Clair, of St. Edmond, Quebec was the most successful of the group, placing in the top five on two of the four nights at Volusia, including an impressive second place finish on the final night of racing. He was leading the final race in the closing laps before getting passed by future DIRTcar Hall of Fame driver Brett Hearn on the final lap. Daniel Nadeau and Michel Chicoine also represented Lafrance Performance during the four-night showdown at Volusia.
Etienne Girard also represented Lafrance Performance at East Bay Raceway near Tampa, Florida. He didn’t have the success that he had hoped for, but was able to get some laps and some experience and will be ready to get the 2013 started back home as he follows the Empire Super Sprint and other 360 Sprint Car shows throughout Ontario, Quebec and New York State this season.
